I've been enjoying everyone's favorite paintings, but try as I might, I can't think of a specific painting that I can say is my favorites. Heck, I'm having trouble thinking of all that many specific paintings, period! Somehow I just don't have a great depth of experience with or knowledge about paintings. I'm not sure why that is, since I enjoy strolling through a museum looking at the paintings, but much of the subtlety is lost on me.

Photography, on the other hand, is something I know and understand. I'm purely a hobby photographer who manages to sometimes get lucky and come up with an impressive shot. But I appreciate the challenges that go into capturing a scene, and I have great respect for those that do it well.

So, inspired by everyone's favorite painting, I thought I'd share one of my all time favorite photographs, which is VERY famous, and should be quite familiar to you all.

This picture was made famous in Life magazine, and was shot in Times Square, New York City after the announcement of the Japanese surrender to end World War II. This image so dynamically captures the relief and excitement of that day. It isn't hard to put yourself into that scene and to feel the emotions of the moment.
