This is part of the Korean War Memorial, which includes a list of all the members of the United Nations that sent troops to fight.
I also visited one of my favorite monuments, one that is easy to miss, in spite of its location just off Constitution Ave. in front of the National Academy of Sciences:
All evening, as I wandered among the memorials, the President's helicopter flew back and forth over the city. On one of the last passes, I snapped this shot:
