I had a good weekend with my family. Its always good to see my various aunts, uncles and cousins. The newest addition to the family, my cousin's daughter, is now 18 months old and an absolute sweetheart. My daughters were thrilled to have another little girl to play with and spent a lot of time with her. I need to check the pictures in my wife's camera, as I think she probably has some adorable pictures of the three girls playing together.

Somehow managed to drive almost 900 miles this weekend without encountering any seriously heavy traffic. We had a minor delay coming home through rural Pennsylvania because of a fire response that had the highway closed. We had to make a detour, which took us past the fire station just as the fire engine returned from the call and had to block the street to back into its bay. A minor inconvenience, but one that didn't bother me a bit. My hat is off to the volunteers who answered the call on Independence Day!

I was amazed at the quantity and size of fireworks people were setting off near my parents' home in NY. Considering that all fireworks are illegal in NY, there were some amazing fireworks displays around town. Some of the explosions sounded like professional fireworks, but there was no professional display in that town this weekend. I personally prefer to leave the fireworks to the professionals, but it seemed that everyone else in town wanted their very own fireworks display, regardless of the law. I'm just glad no one got hurt (at least no one called 911).

Our older daughter is staying with her grandparents for the week. They have plans to take her to Niagara Falls, which should be a great time for her. We have to head back up to Pennsylvania next weekend to meet my parents and pick up our daughter. In the meantime, we have our younger daughter to ourselves for a week, so we can spend some quality one-on-one time with her.
