Calm before the storm

We arrived at my parents' house at lunch time yesterday, after dragging ourselves out of bed at an unholy hour in the wee hours of the morning. Along the way we passed through a cold front, and the weather here is quite pleasant, much cooler with almost no humidity.

Yesterday was a pleasant, relaxing afternoon. The girls played with their grandparents and DW and I visited with my parents. This morning, we're finishing the preparations for all the family events for the rest of the weekend. My grandmother and local cousin are coming for dinner at mid-day, and this evening all the aunts, uncles and cousins should be arriving from various points around the country. Its always good to see all the relatives, but I expect to completely exhausted by tomorrow evening.

My brother called from Jakarta last night. Unfortunately, I was so tired, I didn't wake up when they told me, so I missed the call. Someone (my father, I think), being silly, asked him why, if he's on the other side of the world, he doesn't fall off? He responded that everyone down there wears suction cups on their feet, so they stick to the ground. He'd fit right in with some of my friends here, I believe!
