Earlier this week, one of my co-workers commented on the photo I use as my desktop wallpaper. He expressed an interest in getting an 8x10 print of the photo to frame, and offered to pay me for it. I took this picture over a decade ago, so I figured anything I get for the photo now is found money, so I agreed to see if I could locate the negative.

It took a bit of searching, but I did, in fact, still have the negative, and it was even in a protective sleeve! I used my Epson scanner to scan the negative, tweaked the image slightly in PhotoShop, and printed it on my HP Photosmart printer. The results were AWESOME! My co-worker was quite pleased (in fact he insisted that I sign the print), and I have some extra pocket money. I may have to dig through my old negatives and see if there aren't some cool photos to enlarge and frame for my office...

Everyone has had weird parent-child moments with their parents. When my parents were here a couple of weeks ago, my mother surprised me by asking for a couple of recipes. Something about a mother asking her son for recipes struck me a strange. Anyway, this week I received an e-mail from my mother. She'd used the recipes to prepare dinner for my Grandfather's birthday. Apparently my aunts and uncles absolutely loved the dishes, and the recipes are now making the rounds through the family. I never expected to be the originator of new family recipes!

Here are the recipes:

Black Bean Fiesta Salad )
