A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about selling a print of one of my photographs to a co-worker. Since then, I've been thinking a lot about the pictures I've taken over the years. I went through my pictures from our trip to Venice last winter, which I had found disappointing the last time I looked at them. Now, I looked at them with an eye towards their potential for digital enhancement. Eventually, I picked one picture, found the negative, and scanned it. After cropping the image to correct my original framing and enhancing the colors to compensate for the overcast lighting that had muted the original colors, I started playing with the artistic filters. After about 30 minutes, I had an image I really liked:

Impressions of Venice

I made an 8x10 print, framed it, and took it to work today. Now it looks like I'm going to sell another print to yet another co-worker. I'm having entirely too much fun with this, and the extra pocket change doesn't hurt either!

Nice pic!

An artist would lighten the buildings on the left and darken those behind (across the canal as it curves around). That way you'd get more feeling of depth.
