There was a long list of chores I was supposed to get done this weekend, all of which would have involved serious physical work. My MIL has a tree that needs to be cut down. I need to pick up a pile of firewood from down the street. One of my wife's friends is giving us their piano, and I need to borrow my brother-in-law's truck and bring it home. Needless to say, I wasn't looking forward to doing any of this.
When I woke up this morning, I was surprised by how dark it still was. As I lay in bed, it dawned on me that the static sound I was hearing was the sound of a steady rain falling on the roof. So, I'm having a quiet day relaxing around the house, while my wife sleeps (she worked last night and has to work again tonight). The girls have a friend over, and are entertaining themselves nicely. The only thing I have left to do is prepare something for dinner.
Tomorrow, I might have to do some real work, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying my day off!
