Playing with my new camera
My new camera arrived on Tuesday! This evening was hazy and overcast, not exactly great photography conditions, but I wanted to play. So I decided to head to one of my favorite parks in this area. Gravely point is just off the north end of the primary runway at National Airport, and the landing airplanes pass so low overhead that it almost feels like you can reach up and touch them. I took a bunch of pictures, including these, which
skyring should appreciate.

Awwwwwesome!
Re: Awwwwwesome!
That they do! Its an amazingly intricate dance to watch up close. They pack the landings and take-offs so close together that there is no margin for error. In the twenty minutes or so that I stood there taking pictures, I watched about a dozen planes land and almost as many take off. One departing flight was slow getting into position, which forced the next landing flight to abort it approach and fly around. It was probably only about 30 seconds from the runway when the pilot pulled up and increased the throttles climb back to the start of his approach.
