Down under connectivity
Well, I've received word from all the hotels regarding their internet access facilities. While they all provide some sort of internet access, none of them provide complimentary broadband access. The only free access is dial-up, though phone charges would still apply. After researching the prices, it looks like its going to be significantly less expensive to use internet cafes than to pay the exorbitant rates the hotels are asking. While I would have preferred to bring and use my laptop from the comfort of my hotel room, I have to admit that not having to lug the laptop halfway around the world is a bit of a relief.
I finally bought myself a digital SLR camera, which should be delivered today or tomorrow, and I already have a 1GB SD memory card for it, so I'm looking forward to trying to capture some of the magnificent scenery I'm expecting to see on this trip. I need to find a small backpack to carry the camera and accessories in while I'm skiing, but that shouldn't be too difficult. With any luck, I should have some more gorgeous photos for my office walls when I return.
