Okay, so it probably won't set any records for marathon drives, but four states and 1,300 miles in 21 hours is impressive enough, I'd say. We left our house about noon yesterday, headed for my MIL's, about an hour away. There we packed her stuff in the van, finished a few chores around her house, and hit the road for our great adventure about 2:30pm. By 8pm, we were picnicing on cold fried chicken at the Tennessee welcome center, just across the state line. I continued to drive until somewhere between Knoxville and Nashville (Tennessee) at about 11pm. My wife took over the driving duties, having napped extensively for most of the trip to this point. About 6am, I woke up when I felt her veering slightly on the road. She was getting pretty tired, so we pulled off and switched spots, somewhere west of Little Rock, Arkansas. We stopped for breakfast at the Oklahoma welcome center, and arrived at my wife's relatives in Wewoka, OK a little after 10am (having crossed into the Central Time Zone sometime during the night).
I'm pretty tired, and have spend the afternoon just relaxing, visiting with my wife's relations. The girls went off with some of their cousins to visit the Children's Museum in Seminole, and are now out back in the pasture riding a horse. Soon it will be time for some dinner and sleep.
Tomorrow we spend some more time visiting relatives before we push further west for Carlsbad, NM.
