Today was a "powder day." It snowed overnight, and I knew it was a good sign when I heard the parking lot being plowed early this morning. I wasn't disappointed. There was about six to eight inches of light fluffy snow on the mountain. We headed straight over to our favorite part of the resort, where long intermediate groomed runs are separated by groves of aspen and pine trees. This was NOT a day for playing on the groomed trails, so we headed into the trees to enjoy all that beautiful powder. In the picture, my older daughter pauses to contemplate her next move down a steeper bit. She was only the third skier to touch this bit of snow today, right behind her mother and sister. I've heard people rave about Steamboat's powder days, and now I understand why.
