We spent nearly the entire day at Great Wolf Lodge, and the girls had an absolute blast. Since several of you have expressed an interest, I'll post some more detailed thoughts later, but overall, I have to admit that they do a pretty good job of providing a family friendly destination.
So, the girls were off trying their hardest to become completely waterlogged, and I was sitting off to the side reading a book, when I looked out a window and saw snow. Not a flake or two, or even a flurry, but what appeared to be a full fledged snow storm! My wife saw it too, and we wondered if we shouldn't pack our stuff, head home, get the skis and make out for the slopes for the rest of the weekend. However, five minutes later, the snow had stopped, and we're sticking to our original plan.
There were no available rooms at Great Wolf for the rest of the weekend, so we've moved into Williamsburg proper, to a chain motel. Tomorrow we plan to visit Colonial Williamsburg, though that is subject to change with the weather. Its supposed to be cold--near freezing with a wind chill temp. in the single digits (F, not C). Could make it uncomfortable walking around outdoors. Saturday, were hoping to get down to Jamestown, where they are gearing up for the 400th anniversary of the first English settlement in North America later this spring. Then its home on Sunday and back to work and school.
