Our older daughter has been visiting my parents for the week, so Mrs. Qgeek and I decided that our younger daughter needed some quality time with Mommy and Daddy today. My wife originally planned to bring her to my office for lunch yesterday, but the rain from Tropical Storm Cindy put a damper on that plan (so to speak). The younger geeklet decided that she wanted to have a picnic today, and the weather was perfect for it. Mrs. Qgeek packed some sandwiches, cheese puffs, and cake, and we rode our bikes down the hill to a nearby park. We found a picnic table in the shade and enjoyed a quite lunch.
I had thought that we might play some miniture golf, but our daughter wanted to find a playground instead, so when we finished eating, we mounted the bikes and headed off in search of a playground. Along the way, we passed the local animal shelter, and the geeklet decided that she wanted to stop and look at the animals. They had some cute kittens and cats, as well as rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, birds,...
Eventually, we managed to drag her out of the shelter and found a playground. Swings, slides, balance beams, and more. Finally, it was time to ride home. Mrs. Qgeek and the geeklet put on their swimsuits and climbed into the pool to cool off, while I got things together for dinner. Our daughter seemed to have a good day, which was the whole point.
Tomorrow, I drive up to Pennsylvania to meet my parents and pick up the older geeklet. Along the way, I have a short stop scheduled in Maryland to meet
MaryZee, who apparently has a book for me from my wish list. I've pulled together a pile of books to leave on her OBCZ while I'm there. It'll be another long day, but it should be fun.
