Yesterday, I read an article in the Washington Post about a man in suburban Maryland who has been collecting secrets. People anonymously send him postcards disclosing secrets that they've never told anyone else. The article mentioned one that showed the World Trade Towers, their tops obscured by smoke, which read "Everyone who knew me before 9/11 believes I'm dead."
It was an intriguing article, and I wanted to follow up on it. Unfortunately, while the article mentioned that there was a website, it didn't list a URL. So this morning, I did a quick search and discovered that it is, in fact, a blog. I've just spent a while reading postcards. Some of these secrets are quite disturbing, others are terribly sad. But the collection, as a whole, is a fascinating glimpse of humanity and our hidden selves. I'm glad I took the time to look for it.
