I'm a proud daddy!

I took a couple of hours off this morning to attend the award ceremony at my daughter's school. Her teacher had told us that our daughter would be receiving a citizenship award, and that it was to be a surprise. So we didn't tell her we were coming to the assembly, and slipped into the gym after her class went in.

They give one citizenship award in each class to the student that best exemplifies the school's honor code through their behavior and example. My daughter was completely surprised to hear her name announced, and very shy about accepting the certificate. But her face broke into the greatest smile when she saw us there! What a great morning.

Now I have to refocus and get back to work...

What a great moment! Thanks for sharing it with us. I remember your daughters with affection - angels both, and they obviously inherited (or were taught) the strong citizenship values I admired in their parents.

Good on you all!

How wonderful! I'm going backwards in my friends list, and was so happy to stumble upon this.

You must be so proud :)
